Tunisia presidency confirms receiving suspicious envelope


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) TUNIS, Jan 28 (KUNA) -- Tunisia's Presidency affirmed Thursday that it received on Monday a suspicious envelope that was addressed to President Kais Al-Saied.
In a press statement, the presidency said that director of the presidential cabinet suffered temporary loss of vision and headache after opening the envelope which did not carry the sender's name.
The official had been rushed to the military hospital for medical checkups and was discharged after the improvement of its health on Wednesday, the statement added.
It pointed out that another presidency employee who was in the same room suffered the same symptoms but with lesser intensity.
Initially, the suspicious envelope was placed in a shredder before it was retrieved and sent to the relevant services of the Ministry of Interior, the presidency said.
The substance inside the envelope and the sender have not been identified yet. (end)
