Customs in northeast China confiscate giant beetles
(MENAFN)
Shenyang customs in Liaoning Province of China confiscated nine live Hercules beetles, one of the biggest beetle species, hidden intside parcel.
Through regular checking of mails, the customs found nine plastic boxes put inside a parcel sent from Japan, as each box had one beetle.
Live insects are banned from going into China through mail, and illicit mailing of Hercules beetles can result in a threat to the eco-system, the customs said.
In recent years, Hercules beetles become popular among the rare pet loves in China as their prices increase up to thousands of yuans for one beetle.
