208 new COVID-19 infections reported in Philippines


(MENAFN) The overall figure of patients who have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the Philippine has jumped to 12,513, as 208 more cases were reported in the last 24 hours as of Sunday, the country's health department announced earlier in the day.

In the meantime, the most infectious coronavirus disease claimed 74 more lives in the country, lifting the death toll to 824, whereas the combined tally of patients who have survived the infection has and been accordingly discharged from hospitals has reached 2,635, the Department of Health (DOH) declared in an updated news release.

By prefecture, the overwhelm majority of the new cases were reported from Metro Manila, with 174 cases or 83 percent, whereas 33 cases or 16 percent were reported from other parts of the country, and one case or 1 percent in the Central Visayas region in the central Philippines.
