Blast in Afghanistan leaves 20 injured

Local police said on Monday that a grenade blast that struck outside a local mosque that falls in Paktika province of Afghanistan overnight has resulted in injuries to 20 civilians.

Shah Mahmoud Arian, provincial police spokesman, said that "the incident occurred when Ramadan night prayers were underway in a mosque in Mohammad Hassan village, Khair Kot district roughly at 08:00 p.m. local time Sunday".

He added that the injured have been transfered to a hospital in the district and none of them had life threatening injuries.

Taliban activists are blamed for the explosion, however, they denied their involvement in the attack.
