Jordan- FM, Arab, Turkish counterparts discuss pooling effort to tackle COVID-19


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Apr. 14 (Petra) Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, Tuesday held a number of phone calls with his Turkish and Arab counterparts, during which they discussed regional cooperation on tackling the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Safadi and Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sameh Shoukry, discussed the COVID-19 crisis and concerted effort to address the pandemic's fallout. The top diplomats discussed measures taken by both countries to curb the spread of the virus and the necessity of exchanging experiences to address the ramifications of the pandemic.
In a similar phone call, Safadi and Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, discussed challenges posed by the novel virus, as the two ministers emphasised the importance of cooperation to address the threat of the virus. Regional developments were not absent from the meeting.
Safadi also discussed with his Kuwaiti counterpart, Ahmad Nasser Al-Sabah, measures taken to address the COVID-19 pandemic and its fallout, and eschew the region further disasters. In addition, Safadi and Al-Sabah discussed regional developments, underscoring importance of cooperation and coordination.
In a phone call with his Iraqi counterpart, Mohammed al-Hakim, Safadi expressed the Kingdom's support for Iraq in its effort in combating the virus.
Safadi underlined that Iraq's stability is highly important to achieve regional stability, stressing that Jordan, under His Majesty King Abdullah II's directives, places its capabilities at the expense of the Iraqi government as it strives to uphold security.
He also had a discussion with his Turkish counterpart, Mevlüt Cavusoglu, to discuss measures taken to address the COVID-19 crisis. Safadi and Cavusoglu underscored the Turkish-Jordanian cooperation in mitigating the pandemic's global fallout.
