Qatar- Ministry provides 'distance learning' for students with disabilities


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The Ministry of Education and Higher Education said that it had taken into account the comprehensiveness of education for all students in the distance learning process, including students with disabilities of all classes, in order to ensure the progress of the educational process by providing special education services to ensure their access to them.
In this regard, the Ministry added that educational videos in sign language had been produced for students with hearing disabilities, which is downloaded daily to the application/Microsoft Teams/under the supervision of their teachers and sign language specialists, noting the great response and interaction of students and their parents, and said that these lessons are broadcast daily on Qatar educational channels to ensure that students have access to them.
The quality of the videos produced for general education students was also taken into consideration in terms of clarity of voice and instructions to ensure that students with visual impairments can have access and obtain them daily through the application / Microsoft Teams / and follow up with them through teachers first-hand and answer their inquiries.
It mentioned that it was also taken into consideration that students of the 3rd level of support (students with intellectual disabilities and those with autism accompanying other disorders) have their right to education by providing lessons registered daily through their teachers, based on their individual plans with the inclusion of training and skills that the student is required to accomplish under the supervision of  guardian, where significant cooperation and interaction has been monitored from students with the help and support of their parents, who have been keen on reaching their children for lessons and accomplishing the daily duties required of them in the form of training and skills, applied by student in the presence of  guardian  to ensure that student keeps the skills and information that were worked on in the school and not to forget them.
The Ministry pointed out that educational materials were provided to students with disabilities according to the level and type of disability, and the educational material includes educational activities, videos, and guidance for parents.
