Jordan- Agreement to build aluminum fluoride plant in Ma'an Governorate


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Jan. 8 (Petra)- The Jordanian Chemicals Company, wholly owned by Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) and Alufluoride Limited of India, signed on Wednesday an agreement to establish a factory to produce aluminum fluoride.
Under the agreement, the first stage of a new plant, worth $25 million, will be built to produce aluminum fluoride in the Eshidiya region in Ma'an Governorate, and the modernization of the JPMC's aluminum fluoride plant in Aqaba for the purposes of producing aluminum fluoride at the same cost.
Also under the agreement, the JPMC will supply the new factory with 20,000 tons of fluosilic acid annually, which is one of the side products resulting from the extraction of phosphate in the Eshidiya mines.
Chairman of the JPMC, Dr. Mohamed Thunaibat, who signed the agreement with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alufluoride Limited of India, Venkat Narayanan, stressed the importance of this agreement in the framework of the company's move towards conversion industries and diversification of the company's income sources.
Construction of the new factory in Eshidiya, which will start at the beginning of next month and continue for 15 months, will provide nearly 100 new job opportunities for the region's people, he noted.
After renovating the aluminum fluoride factory in Aqaba, he expected the new factory production of aluminum fluoride will reach20 thousand tons per plant in the first and second stages.
He announced the company will sign series of agreements this year as part of diversifying its partnerships and enhancing its production and economic capabilities.
In turn, Narayanan expressed the Indian side's pride in its partnership with the JPMC in various fields, adding the new plant constitutes a qualitative addition to the company and the strengthening of relations and cooperation between the two sides.
