Pakistan- Poetic symposiums enthrall audience in Bara, Landikotal


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) BARA: A Mushaira (poetic symposium) was held at Speen Qabar Chowk in Bara tehsil of Khyber tribal district under the aegis of Sepah Adabi Tolana, a literary society, which was presided over by eminent poet Haji Qandahar Afridi.

Eminent poets Shah Ahmed Khakari, district president of Malgari Lekwalan Umed Afridi and Nazir Afridi attended the event as guests of honor, while Prime Minister's Adviser on Political Affairs and Tribal Districts Haji Ayub Afridi, Adabi Tolana patron-in-chief Haji Shireen Afridi, Awami National Party Bara president Imran Junior, Pakhtun Students Federation Khyber election committee chairman Irfan Afridi and vice president Faheem Afridi also attended the function.

On the occasion, the poets presented attractive poetry and received applause from the audience. A large number of people having interest in poetry attended the function and enjoyed poetry.

Senator Ayub Afridi while speaking on the occasion said development of merged tribal districts is among the top priorities of the federal government. He said the government will take special care of people associated with the field of art and literature.

Another Mushaira was also held at Landikotal Bazaar in Khyber district which was presided over by Nisar Ifkar.

Asim Shinwari initiated the Mushaira with Tilawat, Kabeer Shinwari narrated the tale of the previous Mushaira, and Ismail Muqeed presented a Ghazal, which after a long debate was declared standardized.

Participants of the Mushaira also passed a resolution demanding thorough probe into the murder of Khatir Shinwari.

Power load-shedding in Bara

People in Bara Monday staged protest over excessive power load-shedding in the area.

The protesters chanted slogans against the WAPDA and government and blocked the Pak-Afghan Highway at Frontier Road for all kinds of traffic. Huge traffic jam was witness on the highway due to road blockage.



While addressing protesters, Pakistan Awami Inqilabi League president Attaullah Khan Afridi said the problem of excessive power cuts in Bara must be resolved immediately to end difficulties of people in this extreme cold weather.

A team comprising the district administration and Tribal Electric Supply Company officials held negotiations with protesters and assured them to reduce load-shedding after which they ended protest.

The protesters warned that they will besiege Bara grid station if the officials failed to deliver on their promise.
