Ethiopia: landslide kills 7


(MENAFN) A landslide in Ethiopia's Southern regional state has killed seven people, local authorities emphasized on Sunday.

In a press statement, Communication Office, Dawuro zone of Southern regional state, affirmed that a landslide caused as a result of heavy rains on Saturday afternoon murdered seven people.

The statement affirmed that five of the killed people are from the same family, and search teams are still conducting operations to find any more survivors.

Ethiopia is in the midst of a rainy season which started in July and is probable to last until September 15, which infrequently causes landslides in several parts of the East African nation.
