Completion of section 2 of Central Expressway further delayed


(MENAFN- Colombo Gazette) The completion of section 2 of the Central Expressway will be further delayed, the Government said today.

Minister of Highways and Road Development and Petroleum Resources Development Kabir Hashim told Parliament the completion of section 2 of the project is likely to go into early next year.

Responding to a question raised in Parliament today, the Minister said that section 2 of the Central Expressway was scheduled to be completed this month.

However, he said the completion of section 2 was postponed to December and is now expected to go into early next year.

Hashim also said that work on section 1 and section 3 of the project have begun.

Section 2 of the Central Expressway is being funded by local commercial banks while section 1 is being funded by China and section 3 is expected to be funded by Japan. (Colombo Gazette)
