(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Shura Council is participating in the 2019 High-level Parliamentary Political Forum on Sustainable Development, to be held in New York City, USA.
The 6-day forum, which began yesterday, will discuss a set of sustainable development goals related to education, promoting economic growth, reducing inequality within and between countries, and taking urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.
The Shura Council is represented at the forum by Yousef bin Rashed al-Khater and Abdulrahman bin Yousef al-Khulaifi.
Qatar condemns attack in Afghanistan
Qatar has strongly condemned the attack on commercial building in Badghis province in Western Afghanistan, causing deaths and injuries of security officials.
In a statement yesterday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Qatar's firm stance rejecting violence and terrorism regardless of their motives and reasons.
The statement expressed condolences of Qatar to the families of victims, and government and people of Afghanistan, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
A co-ordinated Taliban attack on the commercial building claimed the lives of three security officials and left 10 others injured. Of the 10 injured, four were members of the security forces. - QNA
