Muslim leaders meet in Makkah amidst critical political, security Mideast conditions


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MAKKAH, May 31 (KUNA) -- Leaders of the Organization of Islamic Countries' member countries meet in the Saudi city of Makkah Friday night amidst critical security and political conditions in the Middle East, as well as growing islamophobic sentiments.
The OIC leaders will be discussing means of unifying positions regarding a host of challenges.
His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah is heading Kuwait's delegation to the 14th OIC summit. His Highness the Amir also chaired the delegation to two urgent GCC and Arab League summits in Makkah last night.
OIC Foreign Ministers held a preparatory meeting on Wednesday and referred the final communique for the summiteers, who were expected to approve Makkah Declaration.
The OIC leaders are expected to discuss the Palestinian cause, Al-Quds, Al-Aqsa Mosque, Islamophobia and conditions of Muslim minorities around the world.
Means of confronting terrorism and violent extremism, as well as a host of political, economic, cultural and social issues will be discussed by the leaders. (end)
