Oman- OPWP plans new IWP at Wadi Dayqah
The Wadi Dayqah independent water project includes the development, financing, design, engineering, construction, ownership, operation and maintenance of a surface water treatment plant. OPWP said the scheduled commercial operation date for the full capacity is required to be by October 31, 2022. Additionally, an early water capacity of 72,000 cubic meters per day is expected to be required from April 1, 2022.
The Wadi Dayqah IWP will also include a raw water pumping station, located on a plot at the toe of the dam, and the raw water transmission pipeline between the raw water pumping station and the water treatment plant, approximately 6.5km.OPWP said, the project agreements for Wadi Dayqah IWP will be in substantially similar form as for previous independent water projects successfully developed and financed in Oman.
'The project is to be funded by the private sector following a similar build-own-operate structure, with the tariff structure and risk allocation generally expected to follow the precedent from previous IWPs in Oman', it said.OPWP expects to issue request for qualification tender for the project in the second quarter this year and request for proposals in the third quarter of this year. The contract for the project is expected to be awarded in the first quarter of 2020.
