PKK, Iraqi army send more forces to Sinjar

(MENAFN) Iraq's military deployed an increased number of forces alongside the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in the Kurdish town of Sinjar.

Sinjar, Sinune and the border crossing with Syria received more Iraqi forces, affirmed head of Sinjar Mayor Council Wais Naif on Monday.

PKK forces also arrived at the town to indicate a risk to the stability of the region, the mayor council chief stressed.

It comes shortly after a battle erupted between Iraqi army and PKK affiliates close to Sinjar border gate with the Syrian Kurdistan.
