Finland rejects expanding training with NATO

(MENAFN) Finland rejected any boost in training operations conducted with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

Commander of the Finnish Defense Forces General Jarmo Lindberg emphasized that no necessities are found in such a move.

It comes several months after Finnish President Sauli Niinisto denied "qualitative widening" in the trainings with NATO.

Niinisto affirmed that the country would fight exploiting its territory for "hostile purposes against third parties," saying that foreign forces are allowed to stay "by invitation only."
