Mauritania dissolves 76 political parties in line with law
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RABAT, March 5 (KUNA) -- Mauritania's Ministry of Interior and Decentralization issued a decree on Tuesday dissolving 76 political parties at once.
The move comes in line with a law, which has the power to dissolve parties that fail to participate in two consecutive municipal elections or gain less than one percent of the votes in case of participation.
The decision came upon the results of the municipality elections held last September and in 2013. As a result, political parties in Mauritania dropped to 29. (end) mry.hm
