Jordan- Insurance sector

Amman, Feb. 24 (Petra) -- The Jordanian insurance sector's profits jumped by 547,8 percent in 2018 to JOD18.6 million compared with JD2.9 million in 2017.

Some 21 companies posted JD22.1 million in profits (before tax and provisions), while another 3 suffered JD3.5 million in losses, the Jordan Insurance Federation (JIF), said, which based its findings on preliminary data.

Insurance premiums stood at JD606 million in 2018 compared with JD593 in 2017 million, indicating a 2.2 percent rise, according to the data.

The total cost of insurance claims for compensation in 2018 increased to JD462 million compared with JD446 million in 2017, up by 3.7 percent.
