UAE's Newest Heavyweight Law Firm Nominated For Prestigious Middle East Legal Award 2019

(MENAFN- Editorial) UAE-based law firm Bin Nakhira & Partners has been named on the shortlist for the 'Litigation Team of the Year' award, at the Middle East Legal Awards 2019, the region’s most prestigious legal awards which are jointly hosted by Legal Week and the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Middle East chapter.

The awards, open to all law firms and in-house legal departments with a presence in the region, celebrate exceptional achievement and best practice within the profession, and underline the crucial role lawyers play in promoting the rule of law.

Having established just six months ago, Bin Nakhira & Partners is the youngest law firm of the nine nominees for the 'Litigation Team of the Year' award that will be presented at a special ceremony in Dubai in April at the The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai.

Other nominees include Clyde & Co, DLA Piper, Charles Russell Speechlys, and Stephenson Harwood.

This award category focuses on a single Middle East court case that sets new standards in the delivery of legal services and demonstrates the firm's market-leading position. Judges look for evidence of legal expertise and innovation, project management skills, teamwork, client satisfaction, and value for money.

Bin Nakhira & Partners is a litigation practice founded by His Excellency Mohammed Bin Nakhira Al-Dhaheri, former Minister of Justice and Attorney General, and co-founded by Dr Abdul Wahab Abdool, immediate former Chief Justice of the Federal Supreme Court, and Mahmoud Abuwasel, Harvard graduate practitioner.

In less than a year, the firm has redefined the manner in which dispute services take place in the nation through their focused contentious practice and innovative, effective dispute resolution services. The firm differentiates itself as a premier disputes firm focusing on high-stakes litigation. The firm also assists in pre-trial, trial, and enforcement strategy, provides direct representation up to the Federal Supreme Court, advises on jurisprudence relating to complex questions of law, and assists other firms as co-counsel.

Speaking of the nomination, Abuwasel said: “We are very proud to have been nominated for the litigation team award this year. It is quite unprecedented for a firm this young to be recognized, but we believe it is the result of being focused on what we do best. In just a short span of six months, our newly-formed litigation team has made its mark on very difficult practices, such as administrative litigation, constitutional litigation, tax litigation, investment arbitration, and enforcement. This speaks to our prestigious set of hand-picked practitioners lead by pioneers of the justice system of the UAE. So far, our firm has handled and is handling over AED 3 billion worth of claims accumulated in a matter of a few months, in addition to other high-profile disputes that are measured by their mark on black letter law, making waves in the market and establishing strong ties with the international firms with a presence in the UAE, and those abroad.”

The judging panel is chaired by Anneliese Reinhold, Senior Vice President of Legal & Regulatory Affairs, du, and judges include Afshan Akhtar, FVP legal, Arab Banking Corporation; Issa Baddour, General Counsel, Rulers Court of the Government of Ras Al Khaimah; Mark Beer, OBE, Chief Executive, Dubai International Financial Centre's Dispute Resolution Authority; Duncan Wood, Legal Counsel, The Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department; Linda Fitz-Alan, CEO and Registrar, ADGM Courts; and David Weir, General Counsel, Jumeirah.
