Iraq convicts terrorist attack in Egypt

(MENAFN) On Thursday, Iraq convicted the bombing in Egypt's capital Cairo on Monday which murdered two policemen and wounded many others, reaffirming its refusal of aggression and terrorism.

The Iraqi Foreign Ministry stated in a statement that it "strongly condemned the terrorist attack," reaffirming "Iraq's firm stance on rejecting violence and terrorism regardless of their motives and reasons."

Earlier, the Egyptian Ministry of the Interior emphasized in a statement that the two policemen were murdered when a bomb carried by a "terrorist" they were chasing was exploded in the popular area of al-Darb al-Ahmar in central Cairo.

Terrorism increased in Egypt after the military ouster of previous Islamist President Mohamed Morsi in July 2013 in response to mass demonstrations against his one-year rule and his now banned Muslim Brotherhood group.
