Estonian, Latvian PMs agree to strengthen bilateral cooperation
(MENAFN) On Friday, Estonian Prime Minister Juri Ratas held a meeting with his Latvian counterpart, Krisjanis Karins, concentrating on bilateral ties, EU-related issues, security and transatlantic collaboration.
Talking at a joint press conference at Stenbock House, the seat of the Estonian government, Ratas emphasized that nearby Latvia is "a very important country for us," underlining their mutual history and strong bilateral relations.
He noted, "Latvia is an important investment destination and trading partner for our companies".
During their meeting earlier, the two prime ministers also conferred supported collaboration on security and defense fields. The three Baltic countries (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania) enhanced their defense spending to 2 percent of GDP in 2018, Ratas affirmed.
