Bolivian buses crash kills 22

(MENAFN) A head-on highway crash between two buses has killed over 22 people and injured 37 others in Bolivia, on the road to Challapata.

According to Oruro region police commander, there were some seriously injured people and they had been transferred to the nearest hospitals.

Challapata Mayor said the death toll may rise, while a police report said the accident was due to excessive speed and one of the buses may have driven into the oncoming lane.

Deadly bus accidents are common in Bolivia's highlands, where narrow highways sometimes wind through mountain ranges near steep precipices.
