ATP single's title goes to De Minaur, Kvitova

(MENAFN) Tennis icons Alex De Minaur of Australia and Czech Petra Kvitova held up the ATP single's trophies following their final matches Saturday evening.

De Minaur, aged 19, snatched the men's title after claiming a 7-5, 7-6 (7-5) victory over Italian Andreas Seppi in a match he described as a memory that is "going to last forever".

The tennis star commented: "it's surreal. I couldn't think of a better place to get my first win!"

Meanwhile, Australia's Ash Barty was crushed with a 1-6, 7-5, 7-6 (3) defeat to 28-year old Kvitova to lose the women's title.

Kvitova said to her triumph: "it was such a great final, to be honest. It was a big fight until the end. That's the way final should be, I think."
