Bahrain reviews scheme on tourists VAT refund

(MENAFN) Bahrain-based National Bureau for Taxation (NBT) is studying a plan aimed at enabling tourists conducting refunds on fraction of VAT paid on taxable products and services bought in the Gulf state.

Following the conclusion of the final details review, the fully integrated system will be launched in cooperation with an international partner.

BNA reported that the system connected registered firms to the departure area of Bahrain International Airport, easing the process of refund and providing tourists with a refreshing experience.

The report explained VAT reimbursements to be a usual act implemented to see growth in the spending of tourists.
