Equestrian: Qatar and Uzbekistan sign pact

Tashkent: The Qatar Equestrian Federation (QEF) and the Modern Penthalon Federation of Uzbekistan (MPFU), have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation to take the sport to the next level.

QEF Secretary General Badr Mohammed Al Darwish signed the pact with MPFU President Bakromjon Gaziev on the sidelines of the General Assembly of Asian Equestrian Federation (AEF) which concluded in Tashkent yesterday.

The development will see both the countries enhancing cooperation to promote the sport. Both the countries have also agreed to play their roles in promoting equestrian in Asia.

Meanwhile, Doha was announced as host for the AEF General Assembly next year in Tashkent. The previous assembly was held in Tehran.

Under the QEF President Hamad bin Abdul Rahman Al Attiyah, who also heads AEF, Qatar is playing a key role in promoting equestrian by holding major competitions.

Apart from the calendar events, the AEF is planning to host other contests in Doha ahead of 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. The General Assembly also discussed other matters relating to the sport.

Another issue on the agenda of the General Assembly was holding the 4th Asian Junior Jumping Championship in Uzbekistan.
