Two cargo ships collide off Turkey

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ISTANBUL, Dec 7 (KUNA) -- Two freight ships have collided in the Aegean Sea off Turkey's northwestern coast, Turkish security sources said.

One of the vessels was on its way from Ukraine to Egypt, while the other was sailing from Ukraine to Tunisia, the sources were quoted by Anadolu news agency as saying.

The collision caused neither casualties nor damage, the sources confirmed, adding that the skippers of the two Netherlands-registered and Panama-flagged vessels had asked for help from Turkey's northwestern Canakkale maritime squad.

However, the sources failed to reveal the causes of the accident. (end) wa.mt
