Qatar- Pakistan International School organises workshops for teachers
As a part of its on-going teacher training program, the administration of PISQ in collaboration with Oxford University Press (OUP) organized a second three-day workshop for the teachers at Pakistan International School in Doha, Qatar.
It was the second phase of training for teachers. The workshops titled ‘Activity based teaching focusing on new approaches and methods', 'Teaching of English, new approaches and methods, Teaching of Mathematics, new approaches and methods highlighted all OUP resources available on these subjects and addressed the course and teaching requirements related to the mentioned subjects.
The workshops were hosted by the representatives of Oxford University Press i.e. Uzma Khan and Shazia Asad. Uzma Khan is a trained and approved trainer and Regional Coordinator for Oxford Teachers' Academy courses at Oxford University Press.She has over a decade's experience in education and training, and has facilitated numerous sessions both at National and International level. She has conducted several workshops in the past, and has invaluable teaching experience. She is a researcher, speaker and writer as well.
Similarly, Shazia Asad has an enthusiastic attachment with Mathematics, the study of Math and the task of teaching Math. She has had this enduring connection for over two decades and has conducted numerous workshops in Mathematics for over 20 years at National and International level.
Both of these committed educationists delivered three days training sessions for the teachers at Pakistan International School, Doha Qatar to support the continuous professional learning and development needs of the teachers.
Three Days Series of Workshop was very well organized by the school administration. On the very first day of the workshop, two sessions on Activity based teaching focusing on new approaches and methods were arranged simultaneously in the Exam Cell and Library of Pakistan International School.
The teachers were divided into two groups for this purpose. On the second day, the PISQ teachers attended a workshop on Teaching Methodologies in Mathematics and on the third day, teachers attended a workshop on Teaching of English, new approaches and methodologies .
Areas covered in The Workshop included, Activity based teaching focusing on new approaches and methods, Teaching of English, new approaches and method and Teaching of Mathematics, new approaches and methods.
The principal Pakistan International School, Nargis Raza Otho took special interest in all the sessions and personally observed these workshops. According to her, the goal of these training workshops is to enable teachers to be sufficiently prepared, confident and competent enough in making full use of the benefits of these wonderful training sessions in and out of the classroom.
She strongly believes that in order to make technology integration successful, teachers need to make informed choices relating to pedagogical approach, students' need and learning objectives.
