Syria: 107 die in U.S led air attacks within week

(MENAFN)A war monitor declared that more than 105 people have died within a week in Syria's eastern province of Deir al-Zour in U.S.-led air attacks targeting Islamic State (IS) positions.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirmed that up to 80 children and women have died in the heavy U.S.-led air attacks which were aimed at the last IS-held pocket in the eastern countryside of Deir al-Zour.

The London-based watchdog expected the fatality number to surge as more people remain trapped under the debris.

Air attacks on the last IS-held pocket on the eastern bank of Euphrates River have stepped up as the U.S-backed Kurdish militias were plotting a second series of offences on the IS after an unsuccessful attempt on Sept. 10.
