Doha: The Athletes' Representative at the Doha Worlds 2018, Aljaz Pegan from Slovenia, who also awarded medals to the men's All-around final podium finishers too felt that the intense contest towards the end made it nerve-wracking.

'It was very close. Cannot be more close than today. But it's good that we have the rules which made it so easy to decide, said Pegan.

He, however, agreed that the target score if achieved should not lead to a tie.

When Chinese gymnast Xiao Ruoteng began the final routine on the high bar, the target score flashed for him to achieve was 14.233. In the end, he got that exact score of 14.233, yet the overall result was a tie on 87.598 points with eventual gold winner Artur Dalaloyan.

'I agree that the target score should be one point higher. Yet, in the end it was special, said Pegan.

On Doha seeing such close contests in the very first edition of a world championships in the Arab region, Pegan said, 'Qatar are not first time hosts as such. They have hosted so many world cups of gymnastics series earlier. Yes, the world championships are a first, but they do have big experience and their organisation is perfect.

On Slovenia's show at the competition here, Pegan said, 'We had one gymnast and he wanted to be in the final of the pommel horse, but like many others he fell off during one of the routines and had to go home.
