India: 7 die in bus crash


(MENAFN) Officials declared that over seven people have died as 20 more were wounded after their passenger bus drifted off the road and plunged into a pond in India's northeastern state of Assam.

The crash occurred close to Mukalmua in Nalbari , around 63 km northwest of Dispur, the capital city of Assam.

A police official in Nalbari confirmed: "Today a passenger bus belonging to Assam State Transport Corporation skidded off road and fell into a pond in Adabari area here."

The official added: "Seven people were killed and 20 others injured in the accident."

The driver of the bus reportedly couldn't control the vehicle and crashed into pond.
