Tanzania: 17 Somali migrants fly back home


(MENAFN) The UN migration agency declared that its ahs assisted 17 Somali migrants to willingly go back to their home from Tanzania after months of confinement in detention centers.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) confirmed that the migrants who flew back home, were gathered by Tanzanian authorities as they embarked on a failed trip to South Africa.

The IOM added: "This assistance was provided in close coordination with the governments of Somalia and Tanzania and will enable the Somali returnees to build a future back home."

The aid included medical care, housing, group and psychosocial counseling, in addition to longer-term assistance towards improving job competencies and launching small businesses to have gainful employment and decent livelihoods.
