JI supports Pakistani citizenship for Afghans, Bengalis


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) CHARSADDA: The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) ameer Sirajul Haq has said the government's announcement about giving Pakistani citizenship to Afghans and Bengalis is worth appreciation.

Talking to media persons in Charsadda on Friday, Sirajul Haq said the Afghan and Bengali refugees in Pakistan are living in Pakistan since decades under poor conditions and they deserve Pakistani citizenship.

Prime Minister Imran Khan in his maiden visit to Karachi after coming to power in the Centre had announced Pakistani citizenship for Afghan and Bengali refugees. However, this announcement of Imran Khan generated mixed response from various parties and groups, with some expressing strong support, while others showing opposition.

Imran Khan latter said on the floor of the National Assembly that the final decision to grant citizenship to Afghans and Bengalis till be taken only after taking all parties and stakeholders into confidence.
