Uzbekistan to hold Asian Games?

A ceremony has been organized in Tashkent to honor the winners and runner-ups of the 2018 Asian Games held Aug. 18 - Sept. 2 in Indonesia's Jakarta and Palembang, Uzbek media reported.

The event was attended by the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov, adviser to the President of Uzbekistan Abdujabbor Abduvohidov, Deputy Prime Minister Tanzila Narbaeva, representatives of the National Olympic Committee (NOC), the Ministry of Culture and Sports and the Tashkent City Administration.

Athletes who won gold medals in the Asian Games were awarded $5,000 each. Silver prizewinners received $3,000 each, while the bronze medalists received $2,000 each. Coaches also got awarded: for gold medals - $2,500, silver - $1,500, bronze - $1,000.

"After the certificates were handed over, the prime minister wished the athletes a successful performance in the international arena, to achieve victories at the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020. It was also mentioned that in the future, Uzbekistan will host large tournaments in various sports. In particular, the Asian Games are expected to be held," the Uzbek NOC said.
