Iraqi composer to perform at ROHM in Oman on September 14


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Naseer Shamma, the acclaimed Iraqi oud musician and composer will perform at the Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) on Friday, September 14 at 7pm. Shamma is known for his unique style of playing and as an 'Artist of Peace'.

In 1999, he founded Egypt's prestigious House of Arabian Oud. Enlarging the global scope of his work, Shamma has considerable experience dialoguing with contemporary international artistes in East-West exchanges, such as with world-renowned guitarist, Enrico de Lemgour in a seminal 1997 soloist talk forum.

In 1999, Shamma performed with Pakistani sitarist, Ashraf Khan. In Spain in 2011, he shared the stage with sitarist Sharaf Khan and tabla player, Shahbaz Hussein.

For Shamma's concert at the Royal Opera House Muscat, Lebanese conductor, Andre el Hajj will conduct the Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra.

Shamma has composed countless works for theatre, television and radio, receiving high honours and winning many awards. In addition, he has released numerous successful CDs, with Journey of the Soul as the latest.

He will perform with the Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra on Friday, September 14 at 7pm.
