Three art exhibitions get underway at Katara


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Three art exhibitions have been opened at Katara - the Cultural Village Foundation by general manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al Sulaiti in the presence of several diplomats and other dignitaries.
The exhibitions are running until September 14.
The ‘Endless Entrust' exhibition by Turkish artist Fatih Mika was opened in Building 18 by Dr al-Sulaiti along with Turkish ambassador Fikret Ozer. It is being held in co-ordination with IKASD Istanbul Intercultural Art Dialogues Association.
Ambassador Ozer delivered a speech during the opening where he stressed the deep-rooted and strong relations between Qatar and Turkey in several fields, especially the important sector of arts and culture.
Beste Gurso, curator of the exhibition, said the event is the fruit of bilateral co-operation under the umbrella of the Turkey and Qatar Intercultural Art Dialogues Project, adding that Mika will meet visitors on September 14 to give lectures on engraving art.
Meanwhile, the ‘Ahel Qatar' (‘People of Qatar' in English) exhibition by Qatari artist Ali al-Mulla has witnessed a 'remarkable turnout comprising locals as well as people from other communities, Katara has said in a statement. It is taking place in Katara Building 19.
The exhibition features portraits of several prominent Qatari figures, who have contributed significantly to the creation of Qatar, as well as public figures such as athletes, actors and others.
Finally, the ‘N33° Flight' exhibition in Building 19 is a combined effort between Kuwaiti and Iraqi artists - Sara Hassan and Haider al-Zaeem, respectively - who have joined hands to present striking artworks.
Explaining the title of the exhibition, Hassan said the geographical border between Iraq and Kuwait is located along the N33°co-ordinates. A humanitarian message is being conveyed through the paintings featured at the exhibition, stressing that art is a language of peace and humanity.
