Zimbabwe inaugurates Mnangagwa as president
(MENAFN) Zimbabwe has completed the inauguration of Emmerson Mnangagwa as its president on Sunday, marking him as the first to take leadership after the 37-year rule of Robert Mugabe.
The swearing-in ceremony has been held after a controversial election, when Mnangagwa was able to claim over 50 percent of the vote.
The new president made a vow in his swearing-in address to allow the unity of his people, as well as to open job opportunities and tackle cash shortages.
He stated "now is the time for us all to unite as a nation to grow our economy, let us courageously and diligently embark on a shared journey towards the realization of a national vision to transform Zimbabwe into a middle-income economy, free from poverty and corruption by 2030."
