New York to host 27 Egyptian artifacts auction

(MENAFN) New York will be seeing the selling of twenty-seven unique antiquities from ancient Egypt next month.

The auction will take place in the globally renowned auction house Christie's on 18 April where some of the pieces are expected to sell for more than USD1, 000,000.

Amongst the pieces is a rare statue of the Sekhim-Ankh-Ptah who lived between 2389 and 2255 BC. This relic is expected to fetch between USD1 million and USD1.5 million.

Museums were robbed and looted with artifacts damaged or stolen, after the revolution which ousted long-term dictator Hosni Mubarak in 2011, according to the Ministry of Antiquities.
