Seize opportunity for peace talks, EU urges Taliban
(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KABUL (Pajhwok): The Taliban would seize President Ashraf Ghani´s offer to recognise the movement as a legitimate political group, hopes the EU´s special ambassador to Afghanistan
Roland Kobia, following a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Deng Xi junin in Beijing on Wednesday, said China and EU believed Ghani€™s offer to the Taliban was meaningful.
€œIt is an offer that presents an opportunity and a window that should be seized by all parties across the conflict lines," Kobia was quoted as saying by Reuters.
"We, as the EU, very much hope that the Taliban will respond to that offer to start discussion.In these kinds of scenarios windows open very quickly but they can also close very quickly," he remarked.
