Pakistan- Imran Khan hints at resignations from National Assembly
Addressing a rally of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) in Lahore on Wednesday night, Imran Khan said there is no value of an Assembly which passes a law for making a person president of the party who has been disqualified by the Supreme Court of Pakistan. He said he is making consultations with other party leaders for tendering resignations from the National Assembly.
Earlier, Sheikh Rashid while addressing the rally announced to resign from the Assembly.
The PAT held the rally in protest against the Model Town incident two years ago where several activists were killed in firing of police. The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari also attended the rally. It is first time that Imran Khan and Asif Ali Zardari used the same platform to address a public meeting.
Asif Zardari said in his address that Nawaz Sharif only thinks about Punjab. He said Pakistan faces the biggest threat from Jati Umra (residence of Nawaz Sharif).
The PAT chief Tahirul Qadri said he is not fighting against democracy, but against Sharif brothers who according to him are responsible for the Model Town killings.
Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah also addressed the rally.
