Jordan- Minister urges ICT training for labour market


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Jan 13 (Petra) –– Minister of State for Investment Affairs Mohannad Shehadeh was briefed during a visit to Huawei/Jordan office on Saturday about investment opportunities and privileges offered by the ICT sector, a key pillar of the national economy.

He was acquainted with the programs carried out by the global telecom company and the services it provides to the economy, mainly the training of Jordanian engineers and technicians.

At a meeting, the minister discussed ways and means of benefiting from the advanced technology provided by Huawei, which has a wide global reputation, and its contribution to strengthening the Jordanian capacities in the technical and communication sectors, and providing quality training to local manpower.

He stressed training and qualifying staff for the labor market in the information technology sector, through the memorandums of understanding and partnerships signed with universities and educational institutions in the sector.

The Minister said Jordan appreciated the company's efforts in training and qualifying youth and creating job opportunities for them.

The minister was briefed on the needs of foreign investors, within the framework of the Jordan Investment Commission's plan to identify the reality of foreign investment in the Kingdom and overcome barriers to investment.

"We continue to work in the Jordanian market, support and develop the ICT sector and provide job opportunities for skilled Jordanians and raise their skills," said Andy Wu, General Manager of Huawei Jordan.

Huawei, a leading international ICT company, employs many Jordanian engineers and technicians and creates more than 1,000 direct and indirect job opportunities for the local market.
