Philippine official praises Qatar's efforts to ensure labour rights

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) HE the Minister of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs Dr Issa Saad al-Jafali al-Nuaimi met with the visiting Philippine Labour Secretary Silvestre Bello and his accompanying delegation.

The meeting discussed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen them.
HE Dr al-Nuaimi presented the legislation and procedures adopted by Qatar to protect the rights of expatriate workers.
The meeting was attended by officials from the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs.
On his part, Bello praised Qatar's efforts to strengthen and ensure labour rights through the applied laws and procedures.
He also praised Qatar's achievements regarding the care of expatriate workers by building high-quality labour camps and creating labour dispute resolution committees to facilitate litigation for labours in need of care.
The Philippine secretary referred to the unique continuous co-operation and co-ordination between the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs in Qatar and the Department of Labour and Employment in the Philippines.
Bello expressed his gratitude of the issuance of Law No. 21 of 2015 regulating the entry and exit of expatriates and their residence and Law No.15 of 2017 concerning domestic workers, giving them legal protection.
He valued the great efforts exerted by the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs to generally protect expatriate labours through the respective departments.
