Oman- P V Sindhu honoured by Shifa al Jazeera Medical Group

Rio Olympics silver medalist P V Sindhu was honoured by the GCC-based Shifa al Jazeera Medical Group with a gold medal for her stupendous performance at the Rio Olympics.

The function was held at the Gopichand Nimmagadda Prasad Badminton Academy in Hyderabad, where the super girl of India was awarded with 10 sovereigns worth of gold and a certificate.

K P Mohammed Kutty, consultative committee chairman of the Shifa Medical Group, gave away the award to P V Sindhu on the behalf of chairman Dr K T Rabeeulla.

Sindhu's father Ramana, a former national volleyball player and Arjuna Awardee as well as K P M Zakkir and Ashraf Vengat, both from Shifa al Jazeera Medical Group, attended the function along with the dignitaries from Gopichand Academy.

While expressing her gratitude to Shifa al Jazeera Medical Group for encouraging sportspersons, Sindhu said she was receiving the honour for the entire expat community.

P V Sindhu and Sakshi Malik, did their nation proud by winning the Olympic silver and bronze in badminton and wrestling, respectively, at Rio Olympics. Under the guidance of chief coach Gopichand, Sindhu created history by becoming the first Indian woman to win an Olympic silver medal.
