GSO 36th meeting kicks off in Oman
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The GCC Standardization Organization (GSO) 36th technical council meeting started here on Wednesday with participation of heads of the standardization bodies of the GCC countries.
The two-day meeting tackles a number of topics related to standard specifications projects, Gulf technical regulations and adopts what is appropriate to the market needs.
GSO Secretary General Nabil bin Ameen Mulla said the meeting will discuss the adoption of 3000 Gulf standards that emphasizes the unification of all Gulf standards to have a strong impact on the national and Gulf economies.
It will also touch upon the Customs Union, as well economic agreement among member states, he added.
The memorandum of the Secretariat General on the strategic plan of the commission for the years 2016 and 2020 also will be discussed.
There will be new topics in the field of standardization work carried out for the first time and has been utilized from the Turkish and European sides, he added.
A project to develop the organizational structure of the GSO will be adopted by Board of Directors and the Minister of Commerce and Industry in the Gulf Cooperation Council's meeting which is due to be held next October.
Kuwait delegation to the meeting was represented by Assistant Undersecretary, Deputy Director General for Standardization and Industrial Services Fahaad Sahab Al-Mutairi.
