Japan, S. Korea FMs to Meet in Tokyo
(MENAFN- QNA) Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida will hold talks Sunday in Tokyo with his South Korean counterpart Yun Byung Se, who is making the first visit to Japan by a South Korean foreign minister in four years, amid bilateral relations badly strained over World War II-related issues.
This is also the first trip to Japan by South Korea's top diplomat under the administration of South Korean President Park Geun Hye, who has rebuffed holding summit talks with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe since both took office, she in 2013 and Abe in 2012, according to Japan's (Kyodo) News Agency.
At a news conference on Friday, Kishida said the South Korean foreign minister's visit to Japan under the Park government has "major meaning."
