UN Envoy Unveils Deal to Defuse Yemen Standoff

(MENAFN- QNA) Special Adviser to the UN Secretary General on Yemen Jamal Benomar announced Saturday evening that his mediation efforts led to an agreement between the Yemeni government and the opposition groups based on the outcomes of the national dialogue.

The agreement constitutes a national document for commencing a process of peaceful transition and augmenting the principles of national partnership, security and stability, he said in a press conference here.

"After a long suffering from continued violence and infighting, the Yemenis reached consensus on the implementation of the historic outcomes of the national dialogue.

"It's time for the Yemenis to prioritize the higher national interests over their own narrow partisan ones, work together with the sense of responsibility towards the implementation of these results and build a new state," Benomar urged.
