UAE- Bakery shut down for food safety violations


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Hani Supermarket and Bakery located on the Airport Road (Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum Street) has been ordered to close down because of repeated food safety violations, announced the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) on Monday. Ahmed Abdul Karim Al Sharaf, ADFCA Acting Director of Communication and Community Service enumerating the food outlet's offences, said: "First of all, sufficient number of workers had not undergone the Essential Food Safety Training, a mandatory requirement for all food establishments in the emirate. Secondly, food items were stored and prepared in improper conditions. Cockroaches and insects were found in the outlet and it did not have sufficient number of washbasins in the shop. "In view of these violations, ADFCA inspectors recommended the shop to be shuttered until the violations are corrected to comply with all the rules and regulations governing food safety in the emirate."
