(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR: Pakistani opener Ahmed Shehzad has reportedly failed a doping test ahead of Zimbabwe tour.
According to media reports, dope test of Ahmed Shehzad was taken during a domestic cricket match. Reports said prohibited substance has been found in the test after which the cricketer faces minimum ban of three months and maximum ban of two years depending on the nature of the banned substance. Some reports said the batsman has been tested positive for marijuana. However, he can appeal for second sample test.
Reports said the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided not to consider Ahmed Shehzad for Zimbabwe tour and Mohammad Hafeez is strong contender to replace him. Although, the PCB has confirmed that one of the main players has been tested positive for banned substance, but it hasn't officially named Ahmed Shehzad yet. Under the International Cricket Council (ICC) rules, the PCB cannot name the player or charge-sheet him until the chemical report is confirmed by the anti-doping agency of the government.
Pakistan spinners Yasir Shah and Abdur Rehman were also banned for three months each recently for minor doping offences.
