Qatar- More schools for transgender persons to be opened soon
(MENAFN- Gulf Times) After a successful launch in Lahore, the founder of the Gender Guardian has announced plans to open schools for transgender persons in Karachi and Islamabad, with an objective to provide 12 years of academic education (from primary to higher secondary level).
Gender Guardian founder Asif Shahzad said that the school in Lahore has started imparting education to around 40 transgender students with its 15 faculty members.
The school was started with the help of Exploring Future Foundation, a non-governmental organisation.
Shahzad said that there is no age limit for admission in the school.
He said that most of the transgender students had expressed interest in the fashion industry, including learning about cosmetics, fashion designing, embroidery and stitching, while some have shown interest in graphic design and culinary skills.
