Barcelona, Sha'ban 07, 1439, April 23, 2018, SPA -- Second-placed Atletico Madrid drew 0-0 with Betis
on Sunday night in La Liga, according to dpa.
The result means Barcelona will win the league if they pick up a point next week at Deportivo La Coruna.
At the other end of the table Las Palmas were relegated after they fell to a 4-0 defeat to Alaves. Cristian Tello, for Betis, and Saul Niguez, for Atletico, both hit the frame of the goal in the goalless draw at the Metropolitano Stadium.
Atletico have now gone 10 games without conceding at home and Betis are unbeaten in seven.
"A point at home is not enough but Betis are playing well recently so we have to accept it," Atletico keeper Jan Oblak lamented.
"If we can't be first in the table then at least we want to be second." Atletico are 11 points behind leaders Barcelona, and four points ahead of third-placed Real Madrid, having played a game more than both teams.
Betis are fifth and on course to finish in the European places. "We showed a lot of personality to come here and get this result," said their defender Marc Bartra.
Earlier Las Palmas were relegated from Spain's Primera Division after they were thrashed by Alaves.
Former Barcelona forward Munir El Haddadi scored twice for the visitors on 51 and 73 minutes.
Alvaro Medran added a third 11 minutes from time and in injury time Ruben Sobrino added a fourth.
The smallest league crowd of the season watched Las Palmas go down and several home players were in tears as they left the field at the end.
Asked if he would quit Las Palmas coach Paco Jimenez said: "I don't know what I will be doing next season.
"It is not the best time to be talking about the future of anybody.
We have a month of training left in what will be a difficult environment." Las Palmas are the second team to have their relegation confirmed after Malaga went down on Thursday.
Despite already having had their fate sealed, Malaga beat Real Sociedad 2-0 on Sunday.
Espanyol, in the first game since they sacked coach Quique Sanchez Flores, beat Girona 2-0.
