Dhaka Travel Mart concludes with transactions over taka fifty million
(MENAFN- Bangladesh Monitor) Dhaka : US-Bangla Airways Travel Mart-2017 concluded on April 1 welcoming 15,000 plus visitors and transacting about Tk. 50 million worth services and products.
During the fair, airlines and tour operators sold air tickets, holiday packages, the hotels and resorts took advance booking. All the participants of the Mart offered substantial discounts.
Both the figures are records for the 14th edition of the international travel fair.
The approximate figures disclosed at the closing ceremony by Kazi Wahidul Alam, Editor, The Bangladesh Monitor and Chairman, Organising Committee, Travel Mart 2017.
Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Media Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister, said the figures disclosed and the last-minute rush at the fair prove that DTM – being held for the last 14 years – has been able to take tourism to the people.
Tourism not only helps people to relax but also educates tourists about the destination s/he visits, he said.
If the country's tourism products are improved further it would help the country earn the much needed foreign exchange.
As the per capita income will rises in the days ahead, more people will have a disposable income, domestic tourism will further increase.
Infrastructure project undertaken by the government will help future growth in tourism.
Speeches over, Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury distributed certificates among the participants of the fair. He also gave away prizes of the Raffle Draw among the winners.
