Jordan, Oman discuss economic and trade cooperation

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, March 10 (Petra)-- The Joint Jordanian-Omani Committee discussed during its recent meeting in Muscat, ways to enhance economic, trade and investment relations between the two countries, and to overcome the difficulties facing Jordanian exports to the Omani market and Omani exports to Jordan.
The meetings, which were co-chaired by Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and supply Yousuf Al Shamali and Advisor at the Omani Ministry of Finance sheikh Abdul Malik bin Abdullah bin Zaher Al-Hinai, were attended by a number of officials from the concerned ministries and institutions from both countries and the Jordanian Ambassador to Muscat.
The committee also discussed cooperation in the field of consumer protection, protection of competition and cooperation in the field of registration and control of companies, supervision of the insurance sector and protection of national production.
In the field of investment, the two sides agreed to start a joint work program to arrange specialized trade missions to explore areas of cooperation and the establishment of joint ventures.
Regarding industry and industrial estates, both sides agreed to conduct reciprocal visits between the businessmen of the two countries to discuss issues related to industrial estates and the incentives and facilities provided therein to encourage investors to invest in industrial cities.
They also reviewed means to enhance cooperation and coordination between the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority and the Special Economic Zone Authority at Duqm (SEZAD) in Oman.
